Information in English

When you apply to the International Baccalaureate programme you will be invited to an Entrance criteria day at Katedralskolan. The Entrance criteria day is usually a day in the beginning of March.

The Entrance criteria day includes:

• English tests
• Mathematics test
• Group interviews in Swedish (or English if requested)
• IB information

You will meet many of the IB teachers and the other applicants to your IB class.

You will also be able to ask all kinds of questions about the programme.

Testing procedures

The tests are approximately 3 x 30 minutes in total.

The testing in English includes a short listening comprehension, a reading comprehension, a grammar test and a short written test. The test in Mathematics includes basic mathematical skills equivalent to Swedish year 9.

Who will get an invitation to the Entrance criteria day?

Only applicants who ranks the IB programme at Katedralskolan Skara as first or second choice are guaranteed to be invited.

Evaluation

The evaluation of applicants will be based of both the results of the Entrance criteria day and the grades from year 9 (or equivalent documentation). Each applicant will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Preparations

If your spoken English language is better than your spoken Swedish you should ask for the interview to be held in English. You ask for this when you reply to the invitation for the Entrance criteria day.

Information på svenska

Du som söker till International Baccalaureate kommer att bli inbjuden till en antagningsdag, ”Entrance criteria day”, på Katedralskolan. Antagningsdagen brukar vara en förmiddag i början av mars.

Antagningsdagen kommer att innehålla:

• Prov i engelska
• Prov i matematik
• Gruppintervju på svenska (engelska om det är ditt modersmål)
• IB-information

Under dagen träffar Du många av Dina blivande IB-lärare och IB-kompisar.

Du får gott om tillfällen att ställa frågor om utbildningen!

Proven

Proven är ca 3 x 30 minuter långa.

Proven i engelska inkluderar en kortare hörförståelse, läsförståelse, grammatik samt en kortare skriftlig uppgift. Provet i matematik inkluderar taluppfattning och matematiken motsvarande årskurs nio.

Vilka blir inbjudna?

Vi kan bara garantera att de som sökt IB som första och andra val blir inbjudna.

Bedömning

Bedömningen utgår både från elevens resultat på antagningstesten och på betygspoängen från högstadiet.

Förberedelser

Om din talade svenska inte motsvarar SVA för årskurs nio kan du be att få göra intervjun på engelska. Ange detta när du svarar på inbjudan till antagningsdagen.
